The Deuce Season 2 Episode 6 Recap
In the previous episode of HBO’s The Deuce, Eileen asked Frankie to co-produce her film, Bobby was arrested, and Big Mike and Black Frankie pulled off a robbery. In this episode, production began on Little Red Riding Hood.
Aunt Sue
Filming for Eileen’s film was underway, and while she came across some problems, she dealt with them easily. The actor playing the wolf quit over the working conditions, so Eileen cast Larry instead. He improved upon the script and was perfect for the role.
Without permits, the production employed guerilla filming tactics. Cops showed up to a scene in a parking lot, but they let them get away with it in exchange for watching. They also mistakenly beat up and arrested Larry for chasing Lori while filming. Frankie’s wife, Tina, wasn’t working out as the grandmother, so Eileen would have to replace her as Aunt Sue. However, the main issue was still funding.
Two Left Feet
As co-producer, Frankie tried to come up with more money. He joined Big Mike and Black Frankie on a heist to steal a truck full of shoes. Unfortunately, because their targets were expecting it, left and right shoes were separated into different trucks, rendering their score useless. While everyone had a laugh about it, Frankie still needed the money. Rudy came along with Frankie to watch filming from across the street. He was very impressed and offered Frankie $20,000 for a 25% stake. Frankie brought the money back to Eileen, but didn’t tell her that it was mob money.
“Pay Your Fines”
Bobby only had to pay some fines for his arrest. However, his son, Joey, was arrested for fighting soon after. When he picked his son up from the police station, Bobby took him to Vincent’s club for a job as a bar back. He wanted to give his son a dose of reality to set him straight with a job. But Joey was only seventeen years old, and the club operated late into the night. Bobby settled for Joey working at the massage parlor, cleaning.
“I Knew”
Abby was even more involved with Dave and Dorothy’s cause. They had settled on an agreement between the pimps and the tenants on when to operate. Abby discussed it with the neighborhood council, arguing that arresting women for prostitution only held them down since the pimps were never arrested.
After noticing a car watching him, Vincent finally told Abby about his involvement with the parlors and the mob, and she admitted she knew. He was in too deep with the mob, and he didn’t know how to get out of it. Vincent said he would no longer take money from the parlors and handed over his take to Abby. He thought she should use it to help the prostitutes. At first, she refused it. But when a woman needed a bus ticket back home, she gave them the money.
